My career has included crystallography and dermatology research, educational research, teaching and lecturing. For the last ten years my research foci have included STEM education, improving educational outcomes for care experienced young people and widening access to Higher Education. My role as Lecturer in Science Education at Stirling University combines the scientific and education strands of my career. I work closely with Forth Valley College on our joint science with professional education degree (physics and chemistry), and carry out research in two main areas: improving educational outcomes for looked after children and science education.
Improving educational outcomes for looked after children; STEM and social justice; Use of action ethnography and sociolinguistics; Widening access to Higher Education.
