Project

iNNOvative SEDiment management in the Danube River Basin

Funded by .

The primary objective of INNOSED is to develop, test and demonstrate innovative solutions to improve sediment continuity and sediment quality in the Danube River Basin. The solutions will be: built on solid scientific basis, consider environmental, social and economic aspects, are adaptable and be transferable to other river basins, provide tangible measures to improve sediment continuity and quality in the Danube River Basin.

Specific objectives SO1: Better understanding of sediment related issues by developing sediment quantity and quality analysis methods

SO2: Development of measures to improve sediment continuity and quality at sedimentation hotspots

SO3: Contribution to the reduction of riverbed erosion at free-flowing sections by implementing and assessing prototype solutions

SO4: Improving sediment continuity in the Danube Delta region to reduce seashore erosion and enhance biodiversity in the lagoon system

SO5: Strengthen public awareness on fluvial sediment related issues by novel knowledge transfer solutions

SO6: Replicate sediment solutions within and beyond the DRB to boost sediment continuity and improve sediment quality
